Sara Ali Khan Pataudi is an Actress who works in Hindi Cinemas. She was born in Bombay, Maharashtra, India in 1995, August 12. She is the daughter of Actor and producer Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh who is also an actor. She is predominantly of Pathan and Bengali descent on her father’s side, and Punjabi descent on her mother’s side. Actor Kareena Kapoor is her stepmother whereas Soha Ali Khan is her aunt.  Her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan is also an actor. She studied at Besant Montessori School I and Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, India. She later went to Columbia University in New York where she double-majored in Political Science and History. She completed her degree in just three years. She came back to India early and took off the remaining 1+1⁄2 years for weight training. She was gaining weight due to polycystic ovary syndrome. She followed a strict diet, and workout schedule to lose weight.

Career Debut

Sara Ali Khan appeared in the advertisement when she was just 4 years old. She stepped into Bollywood with Abhishek Kapoor’s romantic film Kedarnath in 2018. She was paired with Sushant Singh Rajput. The movie got mixed reviews but everyone was appreciating Sara’s acting. The movie emerged as a commercial success with a gross of over ₹960 million. She earned the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut award and the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year (Female) as well.

She was then cast in Rohit Shetty’s action movie Simmba, alongside Ranveer Singh. The movie was loosely based on the Telugu-language film Temper. She started working on this when Kedarnath was temporarily suspended, due to which Abishek Kapoor sued her. Later they sort out their problem in court by splitting the time of the two movies. Simmba earned ₹4 billion (US$47 million), and it has emerged as the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 2018.

In 2020, Sara Ali Khan was casted Imtiaz Ali’s romantic movie Love Aaj Kal. She was starred as a young woman with a troubled past alongside opposite Kartik Aryan. The movie was emerged as box office bomb. She was then appeared in in the comedy film Coolie No. 1. It was an adaptation of David Dhawan’s 1995 film of the same name. It got strong viewership on Amazon Prime Video but it was criticized panned by film critics.

In the year 2021, Sara Ali Khan was featured  in Aanand L. Rai‘s movie Atrangi Re. Where she played character of a woman with post-traumatic stress disorder. She was costarred with Akshay Kumar and Dhanush.  The movie premiered on Disney+ Hot star due to the nationwide lockdown due to the pandemic after multiple delays. It got received mixed reviews from the critics.

Further fluctuations (2023–present)

Sara Ali Khan next appeared in Gaslight, a whodunit in 2023. The movie was filmed in 36 days and was released on Disney+ Hot star. She was then cast opposite Vicky Kaushal in the movie Zara Hatke, Zara Bachke. It was about a couple who were struggling for privacy in a small town. The movie was a commercial success. She did a special appearance in song the “Heart Throb” of film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

In 2024, Sara Ali Khan starred in the murder mystery Murder Mubarak, alongside an ensemble cast for Netflix. She has then appeared in Ae Watan Mere Watan, a biopic of freedom fighter Usha Mehta for Amazon Prime Video. Her performance in Ae Watan Mere Watan was panned by the critics.

Sara Ali Khan acted in Sky Force where she portrayed the pregnant wife of a missing Air Force officer, alongside Veer Pahariya. It is an action movie set during the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965. The movie got poor box-office returns. We will next see her in Anurag Basu‘s anthology film Metro… In Dino. The movie is yet an untitled spy comedy, with Ayushmann Khurrana as her co-star.

In 2019, Sara Ali Khan appeared in Forbes India‘s Celebrity 100 list. She was ranked 66th with an annual income of ₹57.5 million estimated In 2020, she was featured in Eastern Eye’s Dynamic Dozen for the decade list. According to Rediff.com‘s she was ranked 9th in “The Best Actresses” list of 2021. In the Times’ 50 Most Desirable Women list, Sara Ali Khan was featured. She was placed 30th in 2018, 27th in 2019, and got on 24th in the year 2020.

Other than Acting

Sara Ali Khan is a celebrity endorser for several brands and products, including Puma, Veet, Pepsi, Fanta, and Kurkure. She then joined a pop-culture apparel brand, The Souled Store as an equity partner in 2022.

Other than acting, Sara Ali Khan did a number of charities. She donated to Sonu Sood‘s Foundation to purchase oxygen cylinders During the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, she teamed with the Kailash Sathyarthi Children’s Foundation on her birthday. The foundation provides help to orphaned children who have been orphaned due to COVID-19.
