Disha Patani is a model and Actor of Hindi Cinema. She was born in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India in the year 1992 June 13th. She belongs to the Hindu Kumaoni Rajput. She is the daughter of a police officer, Jagadish Singh Patani, and her mother is a health inspector. She has 2 siblings a brother and a sister. Her elder sister is a lieutenant in the Indian Army. She studied at BBL Public School, Bareilly. She left engineering in her 2nd year at Amity University, Lucknow to pursue modeling. She was the 1st runner-up in 2013 of Pond’s Femina Miss India Indore.

Her Debut as an Actor

In 2015, Disha Patani began her acting career with the Telugu film Loafer, directed by Puri Jagannadh. In this film, she portrayed Mouni, a young woman fleeing an arranged marriage. Despite her promising debut, the film underperformed at the box office, grossing ₹10 crores against a budget of ₹20 crores. In 2016 she acted in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story where she played Priyanka Jha, the girlfriend of cricketer M.S. Dhoni, who was portrayed by Sushant Singh Rajput. The movie was a commercial success, earning approximately ₹216 crores worldwide. During the year 2017, she appeared in the Chinese action-comedy Kung Fu Yoga, where she starred alongside Jackie Chan. It was a major hit in China, though it did not perform as well in India. Her next significant role was in Baaghi 2 in 2018. It was an action thriller where she starred alongside Tiger Shroff. The film was a blockbuster, grossing over ₹254 crores globally.

In the following year 2019, she had a brief role in the movie Bharat, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. It was a commercial success, earning over ₹212 crores worldwide. However, the film had strong viewership on OTT but it was critically criticized by critics] She played a proxy killer in the psychological thriller Ek Villain Returns by Mohit Suri in 2022. She was cast opposite John Abraham. It did not perform well commercially.

In her first release of 2024, Disha Patani played a terrorist who is disguised as an air hostess in the Sidharth Malhotra-starred movie Yodha. That movie was too delayed to release. Critics term Disha Patani a “potential action star”, praising her fight sequence. Still, it has emerged as a box-office bomb.

She gained success in the Telugu film Kalki in 2898 AD. In the movie, she was paired alongside Prabhas. It earned over ₹12 billion (US$140 million). The film Kalki 2898 AD was a major success commercially. It emerged as the year’s highest-grossing Indian film and her 1st success since the movie Malang.
