Ananya Panday is an Indian Actor. She was born in Bombay, Maharashtra, India in 1998, October 30th. She is the daughter of Actor and costume designer Chunkey Panday. Her mother is of Punjabi origin while her father is part Punjabi. She studied at Besant Montessori School I and Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, India. She did not pursue her higher education Despite being accepted to University of Southern California media and communication program. She had to request a deferral twice due to her debut as an actor.
Her Debut as an Actor
In 2019, Ananya Panday made her acting debut through the Dharma production movie Student of the Year 2. She worked with co-stars Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria. The movie did not get any success. She then appeared as a secret who has an affair with a married man, in the movie Patti, Patni Aur Woh in 2019. It was a remake of a film from the ’90s having the same name co-starring Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar. The movie grossed ₹1.15 billion (US$14 million) worldwide, it was a commercial success. She earned the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her performance in both her movies Student of the Year 2 and Pati Patni Aur Woh.
Ananya Panday appeared in the action film Khaali Peeli, in 2020. With opposite starring Ishaan Khatter. It was released digitally on Zee Plex. Next in 2022, she appeared alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi, Deepika Padukone, and Dhairya Karwa’s romantic film Gehraiyaan. It was released on Amazon Prime Video. Her performance was appreciated by many. Her final release of the year 2022 was Puri Jagannadh‘s action film Liger came with Vijay Deverakonda. It was a bilingual production in Hindi and Telugu. Recognition in Streaming Projects
In 2023, Ananya Pandey in the spiritual sequel Dream Girl 2, played the brief role of the love interest of Ayushmann Khurrana‘s character, one of the year’s highest-grossing Hindi films. She then starred alongside Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. It is a coming-of-age film about social media’s negative effects. As per The Indian Express, her urban roles in projects like Gehraiyaan and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan suited the actress better than the ones she did in commercial cinema such as Dream Girl 2. She achieved the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actor in a Film – Critics (Female) for her performance in the movie Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. She did a special appearance in song the “Heart Throb” of film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
In 2024, in the film “Bad Newz” Ananya Pandey made a special cameo appearance. Khel Khel Mein”, had a voice cameo as the character Rehana. she then portrayed an ostracized fashion influencer In September 2024 for an Amazon Prime Video comedy series named Call Me Bae, produced by Johari. She expressed how the comedic genre was “challenging” for her. The show got mixed reception from the critics, but her performance was received better.
The following month, for Vikramaditya Motwane‘s screen life thriller CTRL she was cast. It is a Netflix show, it is about an influencer targeted by a malicious AI app. Recognizing that this marks her third straight project set in an urban environment and focused on social media themes, she has shared her aspiration to advance her career and shift back toward more mainstream commercial films.
In 2025, through studio Dharma Production Ananya Pandey returned to commercial cinema sequel Kesari Chapter 2. She starred alongside starring Akshay Kumar as C. Sankaran Nair. The movie was Set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. She portrayed a lawyer who assists C. Sankaran Nair against British Raj in a legal battle. She took Punjabi Dialect classes for over a year and shadowed female lawyers in practice. It was a moderate commercial success. She will next appear in the romance movie Chand Mera Dil. She was Starred opposite Lakshya Lalwani.
Other Works
Ananya Panday launched an initiative named “So Positive” in 2019 to create awareness about social media bullying. This initiative is for preventing negativity and building a positive community. At the Economic Times Awards 2019, it was named Initiative of the Year. She was featured in The Times of India‘s “50 Most Desirable Women” list. She was ranked 37th in 2019, and 31st in year 2020.
