Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan, is an actor, filmmaker, and Indian television personality. He was born in Bombay in 1965 March 14th. He is the son of film producer Tahir Hussain and Nikhat Khan.  His family roots are from Herat Afghanistan. He studies Pre-primary education at J.B. Petit School. Later he switch to another school until 8th standard at St. Anne’s High School, Bandra. From Bombay Scottish School Completed his 9th and 10th  grades He was a state-level champion, and he played tennis in state-level championships. He went to Narsee Monjee College in Mumbai to complete his 12th grade. He was much more into sports than studies. He got married 2 times but got separated, he has 3 children.

As a Child Artist

Aamir Khan performed 2 minor roles as a child actor. In the movie Yaadon ki Barat at the age of 8. In the following year, he played a younger version of Madhosh (a character). Around the age of 16, he got involved in the experimental silent movie Paranoia, which his school friend directed. His parents wanted a steady career for him which is why the shooting of the movie was kept a secret. Later he joined a theater group Avantar. For over a year he worked backstage. He made his theater debut with a minor role. After completing high school, he quit studying and started working as an assistant director to Hussain.

Khan’s Acting Career

Amir Khan acted in the documentaries directed by the Film and Television Institute of India students. Director Ketan Mehta noticed him in these movies and offered him a role in his low-budget movie Holi which failed to attract a broad audience. Later in 1988, he got the main lead role in Qayamat Say Qayamat Tak alongside Juhi Chawla which became a commercial hit. The movie won seven awards including Best Male Debut.  Raakh was released later but the shooting was done before Qayamat sy Qayamat tak. He later played a role in Love Love Love which failed. He achieved for his performance the National Film Award – Special Jury Award / Special Mention. In 90 ‘s Aamir 5 movies got released Awwal Number, Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin, and Jawani Zindabad with no success. His movie Tum Mere Ho, along with Juhi got a super hit. Indra Kumar’s romantic drama movie Dil became the highest earing movies if that time.

He appeared in several movies and screenplays Dil Hai kay Manta Nhi, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar , Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke Rangeela Andaz Apna Apna  and Parampara. Aamir Khan works in 1 or 2 movie a year which was a very different trait as an Hindhi mainstream actor.

From Dominance to Hiatus

Than he did Raja Hindustani a blockbuster. He earned his first Film Fare Award for Best Actor after seven nominations the movie was the biggest hit of the year and the third highest-grossing Indian movie of that time. Ishq, Another blockbuster. He acted and did playback singing in Ghulam an action thriller — a commercial success. Sarfarosh, Earth, the movie received international acclaim for his portrayal of Dil Nawaz. Mela, a box office and critical failure.

He produced and starred in Lagaan, received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the 74th Academy Awards. Dil Chahta Hai, Film fare Award for Best Film. Then he got divorces in 2001 and took four-year hiatus from acting.

Comeback of Khan

Aamir Khan made a comeback with Mangal Pandey: The Rising, screened at Cannes. He then starred in Rang De Basanti, earning critical acclaim and several awards. Fana, saw him playing a Kashmiri insurgent terrorist. Khan made his directorial debut with Taare Zameen Par, receiving Film fare Awards for Best Director and Best Film. He appeared in Ghajini, 3 Idiots, and Dhoom 3, all commercial successes. PK and Dangal also broke box office records, with Dangal becoming the highest-grossing Bollywood film domestically and overseas. Khan’s films have opened up Chinese markets for Indian cinema, earning him a large fan base.

Amir Khan’s Other Works

Aamir Khan co-wrote Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’s screenplay and starred in it. In 1999 he founded Aamir Khan Production, producing Lagaan- Khan produced the documentary, Madness in the Desert, National Film Award. He also wrote the climax of Rang De Basanti and acted in it. Taare Zameen Par was directed and produced by him, and won several awards, including Best Director for Khan. Produced Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He then Co-wrote and acted in Ghajini. Produced Peepli Live, and Dhobi Ghat, and co-produced Delhi Belly. He produced Secret Superstar, the most profitable film relative to its budget, and achieved massive success in China. Co-produced Laapataa Ladies. Currently, he is producing Lahore 1947. He hosted Satyamev Jayate, his talk show where he talked about social issues.

As a Humanitarian

Aamir Khan has been a prominent advocate for various social causes in India. In 2006, he supported the Narmada Bachao Andolan to protect tribes displaced by a dam project. He emphasizes the importance of freedom of expression. He supported the Janlokpal Bill Movement in 2011 and prioritized education and nutrition over entertainment tax reductions. His commitment to social issues is evident in his engagement with manual scavengers and water conservation efforts, including his co-founding of the Paani Foundation in 2016. Additionally, he was appointed as UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador for South Asia, promoting child nutrition and raising awareness about malnutrition.
